Houston Petroleum Club!

Today's the day when our new female prez, Dr. Bataille, comes to town!

Hope to see lots of UNT alums there, this place looks ritzy, downtown Houston,
and in the Exxon building, I believe. It's actually chartered in 1946, and sits atop the ExxonMobil Building

See Petroleum Club of Houston. My main dilemma is what exactly is business formal?

and... why no jeans, cutoffs, nor sandals? But...

Suppose I should view this as a chance to dress up.

Hope to see the UNT peeps there.

St. Valentine's Day

Whether composed of real paper or virtual in nature, an infinitely large valentine to Poom: blogger, warrior librarian, tennis player, tennis mom, activist, arts aficionado, and g.p.f. extraordinaire.

For all that you have done and continue to do,
Poom, our hearts belong to you!

Pasadena CMZ...Tennis

And it's another one of those weekends!

Alex played well, battled it out with Akash Jain, a cousin of Ricky, from Clear Lake High. He won the first set, lost the second, and battled it out for the third.

It was a classic Team AJ versus King Daddy, as Akash had his white shirt from KD and Alex his red Team AJ. Next time...we will prevail!!

He lost. So, continued on to a great match against a young man, Blake Melton from Boerne,TX. Took him down 6-4, 7-5.

So, a cold day for us Sunday, and we will be up and out by 6 am or so.

Met up with the Hoffmans, Debbie, Chris and Brenda. Always fun to chat with them. Joel was off to Orlando, as we finally paid him for taking Alex to the CMZ(champ major zone) in College Station. Jim and I were at the Houston Marathon, me as support staff, Jimbo ran! Never thought I would see Joel move so fast to snatch his money as we tried to give it to Debbie!!

Chris managed to win his second round, battling a pulled muscle in his tummy. He's a trooper! Took 3 Advils and played on!! Won his 3rd set tie-breaker, and he will be playing tomorrow, too.

Health update: am fine, orthopedic surgeon and rheumatologist do not see eye to eye, but... seems like exercise helps, went out and ran 3 miles, no more back pain! But, resulted in swollen knee. Och vel, no pain no gain! Took some Aleve, great NSAID, non steroidal anti-inflamatory drug. some adverse effects long term... kidney or liver damage... so, will take sparingly.

Shabat Shalom!
